| Joe Szurszewski is a professional photographer who specializes in corporate events, conferences, trade shows, conventions and meetings. His clients include small companies, Fortune 500 corporations, professional associations, and non-profit organizations, and his work has appeared in national and international publications, on the web, in annual reports and brochures, and even on billboards.
Because of his deep experience, Joe understands how events work and what makes them successful, and he wrote an article on this topic for BizBash called The Case for Event Photography. He understands the bottom line for different kinds of events and he knows how dynamic, engaging and well-crafted photography can support the bottom line and make all kinds of events more successful. Whether it’s an annual conference for a professional association, a fundraiser for a local non-profit organization, or an incentive trip for a national sales group, Joe knows how to make images that not only capture the energy and essence of the event, but also allow the event planners to market the next event in a way that just isn’t possible without powerful and compelling photos.
Joe has been nominated for and won numerous awards for his event photography, and he applies that award-winning mindset to every event he shoots. Joe is an active member of the International Live Event Society (ILEA) where he regularly interacts with planners and other professionals from across the live events industry. Because of this, Joe knows the challenges that planners face and he knows how to make their lives a little bit easier by anticipating their needs and efficiently delivering the photos they need. Joe understands that planning an event with hundreds or thousands of attendees is big job and he works hard to make sure that the event photography is something the planner can take for granted as handled.
Joe travels frequently to cover events for clients who appreciate his ability to amplify their events with his fresh and energetic take on corporate, association, and non-profit events. The expenses necessary to bring Joe in for an event are minimal, and are usually less than the cost of one additional attendee registering for the event. If Joe’s persuasive photos convince just one additional attendee to pay to attend (or convince one salesperson to work harder to hit their numbers), you are ahead of the game and you have a set of photos that will pay dividends for future events.
| Another field of photography where Joe has extensive experience is industrial photography. Working for national manufacturers, international engineering firms, and local contractors, Joe shoots photos that capture the beauty of the built environment and show the human determination and ingenuity that go into all sorts of construction, manufacturing, and engineering projects.
Joe owns all the necessary safety gear and is well-versed in safety protocols so that he can work safely and effectively on active construction sites. In addition, Joe understands the pace and flow of complex engineering projects and does whatever is necessary to beautifully capture the project, the people working on it, and the context, all while staying safe and staying out of everyone’s way.
| Joe has many years of experience capturing the power, grace and talent of all sorts of artists and performers. As an avid music fan, Joe attends many concerts and is frequently hired to capture performances by a variety of A-list performers. Whether it’s live concert action, behind-the-scenes ambiance, or artful portraits, Joe knows how to work with artists in a way that puts them at ease and makes them confident that the resulting photos will be what they want.

| While still in high school, Joe began working as a professional photojournalist for a daily newspaper. He has honed his talent for visual storytelling ever since and brought it to a variety of long form projects. From the people of Fiji, to a local Unitarian congregation, to the long journey of a transgendered goth metal musician, Joe tells stories with photos that are meaningful, poetic, and vital. Joe is experienced in creating a narrative arc to tell a story through photos, and this storytelling ability is one the skills that his clients appreciate most.
| Joe serves the Twin Cities: Minneapolis and St Paul, Bloomington, and St Croix County, Wisconsin.
